ParaTips

A. LIBRARIANS HAVE THE ANSWERS. I was trying to find a contact, telephone number or address for the head of a large foundation which sponsors the purchase of books for literacy programs. Although this particular person had many references on the Web, no address or contact person's address could I find. In desperation I called the reference librarian at my local library. He spent a few minutes on the Web and couldn't find anything either but in just a few minutes he found just what I needed in a local business directory. I had an appointment the next day. Your reference librarian can find anybody.

ParaThoughts

HOW TO GET YOUR BOOK INTO SPECIALTY STORES

Most of us will sell more books in special-category stores than in bookstores. Match your book to the stores. Would your book sell in pet stores, auto-parts stores, hospital gift shops, bridal shops?

See

http://www.vendorpro.com/stores.htm

for the numbers of stores in each category.

Visit some of the stores. Do they carry books? If so, ask where they get their books. They do not deal with 50+ publishers; they get their books from a single distributor. Ask what company that may be.

Contact that distributor and strike a deal. Then your book will be in all that type of store.
